Amul becomes the first Indian Dairy company to be in the top 20 list of Rabobank, a Dutch multinational banking and financial services company. All the other dairy products that came under the top 20 list from different countries have previously been in the list and presently continued to be in the list. Amul Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation has become the first Indian Dairy firm to make a place in the Global top 20 list. Amul came up with 16th rank worth 5.5 billion dollar, which the domestic dairy gaint had achieved in 2019. Cooperative Society are very useful in various fields as we can see in the example of Amul. Amul is an Indian Dairy cooperative society based at Anand in the Indian state of Gujarat, formed in 1946 with a cooperative brand managed by a cooperative body . The Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing federation Limited (GCMMF), in present it is jointly owned by 36 lakh (33.6 million) milk producers in Gujarat. Amul spurred India's White Revolution, which made the country the world's largest producer of milk and its products. The rapid expansion helped Amul to report nearly five times as much turnover as Rs 8,005 crore in 2009-10. Daily milk procurement in 2019-20 was 215,96 lakh litres per day, GCMMF said, quoting its president Ramsinh Parmar. He futher claimed that during the Lockdown when private milk companies stopped purchasing from farmers, Gujarat's milk union procured an addition 35 lakh per litre, giving the rural milk producer about Rs 800 extra crore. On this achievement, RS Sodhi, Managing Director of GCMMF (Amul) thanked the Gujarat government for all this tremendous growth. Credit also goes to government of Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani for supporting 36 lakhs farmers during difficult times by giving timely export incentives and infrastructure funding. He also said that this has been achieved due to the efforts of 3.6 million milk producers especially women. He further added that this sector would alone create 1.2 crore new jobs over the next 10 years as India produces 21% of the milk in the world and India's milk market was growing at 5% compared to the 1.8% growth in the Global milk market. In the wake of coronavirus pandemic, Amul has increased its focus on immunity boosting products and launched the healthy ice cream of turmeric (Haldi) flavour.
