It is a solar farming project, under this scheme farmers will earn money from their farming as well as by selling the extra solar power generated at their land.
KUSUM (Kisan Urja Suraksha Evam Utthan Mahabhiyan) was launched in 2018-19 budget. The Modi government announced the farmer-acquainted 1.4 crores. The scheme implies deconcentrated solar power production of up to 28,250 Megawatt (Mw) over 5 years.
One of its objective is to raise farmers' income by permitting them to vend supplemental power to the grid through solar plants set up on their barren Iands.
Under this scheme, the government has planned to provide 27.5 lakh solar pumps, while 17.50 lakh standalone and 10 lakh grid-connected. It will help farmers install total 10 GW Solar Power Plants of intermediate capacity of 0.5- 2 MW each. The scheme also anticipates 50,000 Grid-connected tube-wells, lift irrigation and drinking water projects.
Regarding this Sitaraman told the Lok Sabha that, "the scheme has helped farmers to remove dependency from Diesel And kerosene. Moreover it will help farmer to earn from their barren lands also".</p></div></div><div class="columns">
<div class="column" id='section2'><div class="head"><span class="headline hl3">India to end dependence on imported solar power equipment</span></div><p>Since Prime Minister Narendra Modi started a campaign of Atma Nirbhar Bharat or Self- reliant India, thus the country's very purpose is to end its dependency on import of all equipments, including solar panels. 
Modi said varied steps are being taken to increase domiciliar manufacturing and it has been decided that government's departments and Institutions will only buy domestically manufactured solar cells and modules. 
Modi said that India won't be able to fully use its solar power potential, unless the country doesn't evolve better solar panel battery and storage manufacturing capacity obligating to the 750 MW solar project at river in Madhya Pradesh.
He further said that India has 34.6 GW of solar power, with an aim to have 100 GW of solar capacity by 2022. India is among the top five countries in the world in terms of solar power generation and this form of energy is "sure, pure and secure".
Globally, India has become one of the top renewable producers with determined capacity expansion plans to achieve 175 GW by 2022 and 500 GW by 2030, as part of its climate liabilities. <div class="column" id='section3'><div class="head"><span class="headline hl3">World Largest Solar Park in India</span></div><p>The largest solar Park in the world is the Shakti Sthala, which is located in Pavagada, Karnataka's Tumakuru district, India. The project is developed developed by Karnataka solar Power Development Corporation Limited a joint venture among Solar Energy Corporation of India and Karnataka Renewable Energy.
The plan for the park was brought up in February 2015 and the ground work begin in 2016 January. Earlier the plan was to build a solar Park of 2000 Megawatt which was later increased by 50 Megawatt, and then by 200 Megawatt capacity was recently added by softbank energy which led to make it the world largest solar Park with 2050 Megawatt. Which is more then enough to supply power to 700000 households.
The total investment in the project is about $2.1 billion and it represents the Nation's latest milestone in its transition to renewable energy.
The most unique feature of the park is that the land use is drought hits and has been leased from farmer rupees 21,000 per acre every year. And 5% of increment in lease every two year. With this farmer earns income from their baron land as well.
According to Mercom India solar tracker declared Karnataka as top solar generating state in India. India's overall solar capacity implies the large scale solar project, which make up the dominant share of 32.3 GW  and it is exempted from environmental processes and public hearings. 
While selecting sites for large solar farms, crtics pointed out how the local realities are often ignored. Shepherds, landless labourers and others depend upon their common lands for their livelihood. They are not even being consulted before a solar project is set up with no compensation for their losses as well. 
The emerging concerns over large scale solar projects displays from mining of minerals for panels and batteries to leaving large swaddle of land bereaved of sunlight and water for decades, to varied impacts on livelihoods.

Bridge To India (BTI) Ltd. conducted a recent study which showed India's Photovoltaic (PV) waste  volume is estimated to grow up to 1.5 million in the year 2050. 
PV is made up of Glass metal, silica, and polymer fractions, in which Glass and aluminium contains around 80% of total weight which are non dangerous. Whereas polymers, metal metallic compounds, alloy, are dangerous. Approx 80% of the material are waste after recycling. Only less than 4% of estimated  e-waste is recycled in the organised sector. Whereas India has a poor rank in PV waste management. The country doesn't even have basic recycling facilities.
To manage solar e-waste manufacturer should be instructed to use sustainable material. Mutual recycling responsibility should be encouraged among suppliers project developers, and power purchase. There should be a proper identification of requirement of material in order to reduce the Solar e-waste in future.</p></div></div></div>
